ToD Announce Late Summer Return to European Festivals 07/16/2007 -- by merlin
BOLOGNA, Italy (AP) -- Texas international favorites ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead have announced a slew of European dates for late summer, marking the return as the band's largest festival stint in more than five years.
Initiated in part because of their recent run of success in Germany, this summer's jaunt will see the Texas band play several small club shows in addition to their string of festival appearances. They have announced a total of twenty-three planned shows in fourteen countries which weave their way back and forth through Europe, starting with an August 5th festival date in Portugal. The dates will represent Trail of Dead's second straight appearance in Europe after their last tour finished in Athens this past March. Despite wide-spread joviality after the tour announcement last week, a small percentage of Europeans remain unimpressed by the band's efforts. In an open letter to Trail of Dead members, one paltry Italian journalist wrote of his frustrations, claming their abeyance and lack of promotion have ruined them in his country. "I love this band, and I know how they are, but I am surprised they haven't imploded. In Germany they might be a band on the rise, [here in Italy] though, they are becoming nothing. They are the [least] organized band ever."
Band frontman and leading lyricist Conrad Keely responded to the allegations of complacency in a post on the band's official website. "I just finished reading a story about how we are the most disorganized band ever," wrote Keely. "I like that distinction, even though it's crazy. Not that I'm surprised [an Italian] would be so excitable. I mean, I saw the World Cup. The guys there are way more emotional than the women. I've heard that some even consider Rome to be the San Francisco of the old continent."
